Our jewelry is pretty low-maintenance, but since our jewelry is sterling silver in 92.5%, it is in its nature to tarnish (basically a slow process of oxidization when exposed to air which results in the blackening of silver). Follow these basic guidelines to keep your jewelry looking new:
- “Date” your Chandra Designs jewelry. Take it to out to dinner and drinks, but don’t wear it to cook, clean, exercise or submerge it in water (like the pool, ocean or hot tub).
- Put your jewelry on last when dressing after all your lotions, perfumes and make up have been applied.
- Wipe your jewelry off after you’ve worn it, before putting it away. A soft cloth or chamois works just fine.
- Your Chandra Designs jewelry comes wrapped in acid free recycled tissue paper that is ph neutral and resists tarnishing silver. It’s then packaged in organza bags that can be reused over and over. Keep each piece separate in its own pouch or in its distinct space in your jewelry box.
- A polishing cloth is included with each jewelry piece you buy. Use that to polish your silver if it tarnishes, taking care not to use it on the stone.Â
- And finally – wear your jewelry often! The more you wear it, the less the silver will tarnish.Â
